Join us for a live virtual farm tour at North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State University, the only historically black college or university with a dairy unit in operation. From a robotic milking parlor to plans for a new creamery in the future, you won’t want to miss out on what makes this farm so special.

Objectives:
1. Understand how milk is responsibly produced to provide safe and wholesome dairy products for the public to enjoy.
2. Learn how dairy farmers work closely with veterinarians, animal nutritionists, and other professionals to provide a nutritious diet, good medical care, and healthy living conditions for their cows.
3. Observe sustainable farming practices taking place on the dairy farm and what steps dairy farmers take to protect our natural resources.
4. Provide accurate information to the public regarding milk production and milk’s nutrient package.

This tour is designed for dietetic interns, university nutrition students and health professionals.

The Dairy Alliance

"The Dairy Alliance is a nonprofit funded by dairy farm families of the Southeast. We work diligently with dairy farmers, schools, sports teams, health professionals, local organizations, state leaders, the media and the public to promote dairy foods and knowledge about the dairy industry. Our efforts center in eight states: Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Milk contains thirteen essential nutrients that are important for building strong bones and healthy bodies. To that end, The Dairy Alliance works with consumers of all ages to provide them with nutritional information, dairy industry news, research and recipes for a healthy lifestyle that includes three servings of milk, cheese or yogurt each day."
